Looker Studio client reporting for freelance PPC managers

As a freelancer, reporting is unpaid time. A good Looker Studio (now Data Studio) setup turns the monthly report into a 15-minute job: refresh, add three sentences of commentary, send.

The one-page client summary

Clients read the first page only. Put these on it:

Put detailed pages (keywords, search terms, devices, wasted spend) after it for your own work. Our free Google Ads template follows this structure, including a Wasted Spend page.

Automate the boring parts

  1. Default date range: Last month compared with previous period, so the report is correct on the 1st.
  2. Scheduled delivery: Share → Schedule delivery, monthly PDF to the client.
  3. Owner’s credentials so clients don’t need Google Ads access.
  4. One master template, copied per client — never edit client copies by hand when you can fix the master.

Do you need Supermetrics or another paid connector?

For Google Ads, GA4 and Search Console: no. Google’s native connectors are free and cover the fields clients care about. Paid connectors make sense for Meta, LinkedIn or TikTok Ads in the same report. If you run only Google channels, save the $30–$100/month.

Add website outcomes

Clients care about leads and sales, not clicks. Add GA4 data next to Ads cost — see the GA4 + Google Ads combined dashboard guide and our GA4 template guide.

When you have 5+ clients

Copy-per-client gets slow. A manager (MCC) roll-up shows all clients on one page so you spot problems before the client does, and a white-label page keeps your branding consistent. That’s exactly what our multi-client & white-label pack does — $39 once, with a 14-day refund. More on the setup in white-label Looker Studio reports for agencies.
